Slipping back in to bad habits not updating the blog! Apologies.
King ran a great race at York beaten 3/4 length into 4th. The second has come out and won a Group 3 since so form looks solid. He has had a fortnight doing not alot and plenty of paddock time and is now back into full work gearing up for the Nunthorpe with one eye on a group 3 in Ireland as a second thought.
We made the long trip up to Ayr with Diamondhead and Fish. Diamondhead obliged and will run again on Monday at Wolves. Fish needed it and didn't let himself down on the ground, but still managed to finish 3rd. Not sure where we go next with him.
I had hoped Croq could have followed up but only managed 3rd. He has been schooling at home and is loving it, but probably wont run over hurdles until the end of next month so will try and squeeze another run in on the level but only on quick ground.
Mingun yet again fell out of the stalls at Nottingham so had no chance. I will drop the blinkers next time as it may be them that is confusing him as the gates open. He goes to Southwell in 2 weeks time.
Naabegha is still not firing having said that I don't think things have completely gone his way. He is now down to 85 so we will go to Newbury with him next week, still over 5 but will at some point step him up if we don't succeed over the minimum.
Mahadee ran ok but not great at Windsor. I am hoping we get 2lbs so we can go back to Thirsk where he won last year.
Men don't Cry! well they do with joy as was evident when he bolted up at Ffos Las earlier in the week!! Its been a long time coming but he did it in great style. To be fair to the horse he has had a lot of runs and rarely puts in a bad one. The step up in trip and quick ground worked the oracle. He is due to go up to 53 and I would be keen to keep him to that grade but I have put him in again at Ffos Las next week in a 0-70 as it was re-offered. We will make a decision next week but looking at the forecast that might make the decision for us!
Nani ran ok at Epsom but he needs more cover! He has been on the go a long time with his stop start last season into this so he can have a proper break at some point but I think i will squeeze one more into him beforehand.
Next week, Diamondhead Monday. Break Rank may go to Leicester if the ground is right. Shes Rosie will go to Sandown. Marengo and Kopenhagen both have entries but we will see what the ground is. Both are going well at home but will improve for the experience and I think we will see the best in Marengo next year.
